Privacy policy

This policy describes how Bulb & Bough, published by Iron Mako Media, handles information when you use bulbandbough.com. It reflects what the site actually does rather than a generic template.

What we collect

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It collects standard web analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and how long a page was open.

We also record an event when someone clicks a product link, so we can see which recommendations are useful. That event records the merchant, the destination link and the page it was clicked from — not who clicked it.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser. You can block them with browser settings, an extension, or Google’s own opt-out add-on, and the site works normally without them.

The contact form

If you send us a message, we receive the name, email address and message you type, plus any subject line. That message is delivered to our inbox by email and is used only to reply to you.

The form also records the moment the page loaded and your IP address, purely to block automated spam — a submission filled in under three seconds or a large number from one address in an hour is rejected. This data is not stored beyond the request.

We do not add you to a mailing list. This site has no newsletter, and we do not sell, rent or share your message with anyone.

Affiliate links

Product links on this site pass through our own redirect and then to the retailer, which sets its own cookie so a purchase can be attributed to us. That cookie is the retailer’s, governed by their privacy policy, and it expires on their schedule.

We never see what you bought, your name, your address or your payment details. We receive only aggregate commission reporting from the retailer. Full detail on how this works is on the affiliate disclosure page.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Not to anyone, ever.
• We do not run a mailing list or send marketing email.
• We do not require an account, and there is nothing to log in to.
• We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels on this site.
• We do not collect payment information, because nothing is sold here.

Third parties

The services involved in running this site:

• Google Analytics — site analytics, as described above.
• Amazon — the retailer our product links point to. Their privacy policy governs what happens once you arrive there.
• Vercel — hosting. Standard server logs are generated when a page is served.
• Microsoft — email delivery for the contact form.

Cookies

The cookies set in connection with this site are analytics cookies from Google, and attribution cookies set by the retailer after you click a product link. The site itself does not set cookies for any other purpose, and there is no login or session to maintain.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.

Children

This site is intended for adults making purchasing decisions about their own property. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Your choices

• Analytics — block cookies in your browser, use an extension, or enable Do Not Track. We honor browser-level blocking automatically, because blocked scripts do not run.
• Your message — email us and we will delete a contact form message we have received.
• Affiliate cookies — clearing cookies removes them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
